6 Natural Plant Fertilizers Which Can Be Prepared At Home Using Regular Kitchen Waste

Throwing is the easiest thing you can do when you are done using certain things which you no longer need. But there are so many things in your kitchen which does not need to go straightway to the thrash, as even the thrash can be used in so many ways. Here are some easy to use kitchen staples which you can use to grow healthy plants….

Rice and dal water– When you wash lentils and rice, do not throw the water which you generally do. Save this water and give it to your plants. This water is very very nutritious and is of great benefit for your plants.

Cooked rice starch– Many people take out starch from the rice while cooking them. But it’s generally thrown as you are not aware of how to use it. Well you can use this water as a natural fertilizer for plants. Rice starch adds a small amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to the soil making the soil more healthy and nutritious for plants to survive. Mix it with water in 1:1 ratio and use it to water the plants.

Tea leaves-Every Indian home is full of used tea leaves as we drink chai so many times a day. But wait, do you simply throw these used tea leaves. Please don’t as tea leaves is one of the simplest form of natural fertilizer for your plants. Simply collect leftover and washed tea leaves for a few days and then pour it on the pots of your plants.

Banana peelBanana peel is also one of the best fertilizer for your plants. It yields amazing results. Cut banana peels in small tiny bits and soak them in water for 24 hrs before giving this water to the plants. Its always better to dilute this water in one part of regular water before using them for plants.

Egg shells– Wash, sun dry and crush or powder the egg shells and use it along with banana peel fertilizer for your plants. It provides minerals and calcium to the plants and is excellent for plant health.

Onion peels– Onion peels have Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, and Copper again very beneficial for the plants. They can be used by simply soaking in water for 24 hrs and then its ready to be diluted and to be used directly on the plants. Onion peel fertilizer also acts as a anti fungal and anti bacterial treatment for the plants and therefore keeps the bugs and other insects away from the plant.
