Festivals give us a good reason to enjoy having sweets and desserts. And since tomorrow is Akshaya Tritiya, so you have a good reason to make something special for your family. How about trying these lip smacking dessert recipes with your kids

Fruit Shrikhand– You will need hung curd for this recipe. Use fresh homemade curd and not the sour one. Once hung curd is prepared take it in a bowl and add powdered sugar to taste. Beat the curd nicely untill the sugar is completely dissolved. You can also add fresh cream to this mix for a creamy flavor. Now add cardamom powder, dry fruits, and chopped fresh fruits like banana, pomegranate, sweetened pineapple, apple etc. Avoid using citrus fruits though.

Mango Basundi– Take ripe mangoes and puree them smooth in a blender. Now boil full cream milk in a pan and once it comes to boil lower the flame of the gas and cook untill the milk is reduced to half. But keep stirring the milk otherwise it will burn and stick to the bottom of the pan. Once done add cardamom powder and a bit of sugar. Mix well and let the milk cool completely before adding the mango pulp. Now you can keep this mix in fridge to enjoy afterwards.

Dudhi Halwa– Dudhi or lauki has many nutrients which are excellent for your body. To make lauki halwa grate lauki and fry it in one spoon ghee in a pan. After 5 minutes add a bit of milk and cream or malai to it and let it cook. Add sugar, khoya, cardamom powder to the halwa and cook until the lauki has absorbed all the milk. Garnish with dry fruits and desiccated coconut powder.
