Here are few interesting dishes which are a must have for making holi much more interesting for your family and guests…..

Gujiya One of the most delicious and a must have out of all the dishes served on holi, the festival seems incomplete without this sweet dish.

It is generally made up of maida or flour and filled with a dry mixture of khoya, dry fruits and coconut and is deep fried in a shape of dumplings.

Though traditionally they are made up of khoya, but nowadays many versions of it can be found like Chocolate gujiya, baked gujiya and so on.

 

Malpua A very popular Indian pancake recipe served as a dessert, it is basically made of maida and khoya which is deep fried and then dipped in sugar syrup and served with sweet rabri made of full cream milk.

Bhalla Papri It is a lip smacking dish with a sweet, tangy and spicy flavor, small round deep fried vadas made of urad and moong dal is the main element of this dish. It is served with a good sprinkle of curd, mint coriander green chutney and red chutney made from saunth and tamarind, added with boiled potatoes cubes, boiled white chickpeas, pomegranate seeds and papri pieces. At the end red chili powder, cumin powder and chaat masala are added to finish the dish.

Papri Chaat Well the recipe is same as above, just that the bhalla is eliminated from the dish, so it somewhat becomes easy to prepare. Sev is added to complete the dish, rest recipe remains the same.

Aloo Chat Deep fried potato cubes are mixed with spices like black salt, cumin powder, amchoor powder, red chlli powder and is served with green and red chutney.

Bread Aloo Boonda They are deep fried balls made out of bread and stuffed with a spicy and tangy filling of boiled and mashed potatoes, served with green and red chutney. Balls made of spicy potato mix is covered with a damp layer of bread and dipped into a batter made with spiced besan, it is then deep fried.

Kanji vada A very appetizing dish, which is very tangy and is a great addition to the holi dishes. The vada made up of moong dal is added to a pre fermented water mix made up of salt, asafoetida, turmeric powder, red chili powder, yellow or black mustard and salt.
