Photographer G Venket Ram Brings Raja Ravi Verma Paintings To Life For NAAM Foundation 2020 Calendar

To celebrate the spirit of Indian womanhood, Chennai based photographer G Venket Ram has recreated acclaimed artist Raja Ravi Varma’s paintings to life for his 2020 calendar. The calendar made to celebrate the 10th anniversary of NAAM Charitable Trust, is already taking the internet by storm as the pictures are surreal and beautiful. NAAM, founded by actor-director Suhasini Maniratnam (wife of director Mani Ratnam) aims to empower single women from the under-served segments of society.

The limited edition calendar was launched at The Folly, Amethyst, in Chennai on February 3, and features 12 women with actors Khushbu, Shruti Haasan, Ramya Krishnan, Aishwarya Rajesh, Samantha Akkineni, Nadhiya, Lissy and dancer Priyadarshini Govind and Chamundeshwari posing as models.

Actor Shruti Hassan was seen in two looks, one that of the ‘Radha in moonlight’ and the second one ‘Portrait of Rani of Kurupam’.

Actor Nadiya looked beautiful in this creation.

Samantha too looked epitome of grace in this recreation.

Ramya Krishnan represents Damayanti listening to the tales of Nala from the swan.

Lissy Lakshmi looked gorgeous in the picture.

Lakshmi Manchu recreated the portrait of Rani Chimnabai 1 after whom Lakshmi Vilas palace in Tanjore is named.

Chamundeshwari, a beneficiary of NAAM recreated portrait of Maharani Lakshmi Bayi, who became the senior rani of Travancore.

Kadambri, a portrait of modern, intellectual Bengali lady, portrayed by Priyadarshini Govind.
