Dry Fruit Modak Prasad For Ganpati Bappa

Modak is dear to Lord Ganesha and is offered to him on special occasions. Modak is basically rice flour dumplings that can be made with different types of sweet fillings. Nowadays they also come in different flavors like mango, chocolate and many more. They can be either fried or just simply steamed. Here is this simple recipe of Modak with dry fruit filling which can be offered to Ganesh ji as a prasad nowadays…

Rice Flour Dough– In a pan add 1.5 cup water and once it starts boiling add little bit of salt. Bring the flame to low and gradually add 1 cup rice flour while stirring the mix with one hand. Remember to stir the mix while you add the rice flour to the hot water, otherwise there will be lumps in the batter. Once done switch off the flame immediately and cover this mix with a lid for 5 minutes. To make the rice flour dough pour the prepared mixture in a plate and grease your hands with oil or ghee. Now knead the mixture to make a soft dough. Once done cover it with a damp cloth and leave it for 10 more minutes.

Dry Fruit filling– Side by side we can prepare dry fruit filling for the modaks. In a pan take 1 tsp ghee and roast all the dry fruits which you want to add like chopped cashews, pistachios, almonds and raisins. Once done transfer them in a plate and in the same pan roast mawa and add a little bit of sugar for taste. Once the mawa turns golden brown or is roasted nicely add dry grated coconut and roast for a minute or two. Switch off the flame and transfer the mix in a plate and add the dry fruits to this mawa mix. The filling is ready.

Modak preparation– For the final preparation grease steamer plates first. You can prepare modak either with your hand or you can take help of the moulds available in the market. Once you are ready with the modak pieces cook them in steamer for 10-15 minutes. Once done remove them from steamer and cool them down. The modak prasad is ready to be served to Ganpati Bappa…
