5 Design Elements To Add To Your Salwar Hemline Or Poncha

Salwar’s can be done in so many ways, like a simple one or the patiala cut or the modern day dhoti style. But what about the hemline or the poncha of the salwar. Well it shouldn’t be left plain when you have so many different ways to make it look more interesting.

Scallop style– Scalloping is one way to make the poncha or the mori look interesting. It is not so difficult to make and will add a nice design element to your salwar.

Frill design– Cotton salwars will also look nice with a frill detail. A paperback look will really make the bottom noticeable. But off course you can repeat this with any other fabric of your choice.

Wide hemline– Wide hemlines always look impressive. Instead of leaving them plain, you can use regular stitch lines or pin-tucks to give a designer look to the bottom. Finish the hemline with a thin cotton lace in matching color.

Cutwork lace– Lace in any form would look great to finish the hemline of the bottom, but a cutwork lace will always look the best. You can decide on the width of the lace and use it to increase the length of the bottom.

Applique pieces-You can also join small applique pieces at the hemline to make a beautiful hemline extension. Beautify it further with matching buttons.

Pintucks– Pintucks are great to add a design element to a plain fabric. And you can do the same on the hemline of the salwar.
