Making Healthy Pasta Dough At Home

The joy of preparing a dish from scratch is something else. Pasta is something which is loved by all, especially kids. But the white flour version of pastas is so unhealthy and not something which you would like to serve your kids.

But how about making your own pasta stripes at home and that too with healthy wholewheat and semolina flour. Here are the recipes….

Wholewheat Pasta– Combine 1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour and 1 tps sea salt in a bowl. Now make a well in the middle and add 3 eggs into the well. Add 1tbsp olive oil. Using a fork whisk the eggs with olive oil and now slowly mix this with flour. Mix and form a dough until it is no longer sticky. Cover and let the dough rest for 20 minutes. Now make equal balls out of the dough and one by one start rolling out to make thin sheets with a rolling pin. Now cut thin stripes of 1/4th inch wide with a knife or a pizza cutter and let it dry by hanging these stripes to something or just lie them flat onto a flat surface. Your pasta stripes are ready. Likewise you can also make multi grain pasta by using a multigrain flour instead of wholewheat flour.

Semolina Pasta– In a large bowl mix 2 cup semolina flour and 1/2 tsp salt. Add 1/2 cup warm water slowly to this mixture and combine to make a dough. If the dough is too hard then add more water. Now take the dough ball into a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for 15 minutes on this surface to make it soft, and then cover and leave it to rest for 20 minutes. Take 1/4th portion of the dough and on flat surface roll it out with a help of a rolling pin.

Cut the pasta into thin stripes as it is the easiest shape to achieve, you can cut out lengthwise stripes of about 1/2 inches or as desired by you. Now cook them into salted boiling water for 4-5 minutes, drain and enjoy with your version of creamy or a tomato pasta.
