Priyanka Chopra‘s Marathi film Paani won a national award at the 66th National award ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi. Paani was awarded Best Feature Film on Environment Conservation. Priyanka wrote, “I’m so proud to have produced a special film like #Paani. Congratulations to the entire team at @purplepebblepictures @madhumalati @siddharthchopra89 for our second National Award. Big congratulations to @adinathkothare and the entire creative team for bringing this challenging and relevant film to its fruition. My sincere gratitude to the jury for recognising our hard work and awarding #Paani with the Best Feature Film on Environment Conservation’. It has given us further impetus to continue on the path of telling the stories we strongly believe in.
Talking about the film, Priyanka wrote, “#Paani was our humble attempt at using entertainment to bring focus to the seriousness of the water crisis, which is of grave concern the world over. We are so honoured that the film had an impact and that our efforts have been recognised.”
She also shared the news on twitter and wrote, “Such an honour to receive the prestigious #NationalFilmAwards for #Paani (Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation). I cannot believe I wasn’t there to receive this! Thank u @adinathkothare for making such a wonderful movie for us & receiving the award on our behalf…”
Priyanka Chopra also went live on her Instagram story from a flight, saying: “I’m on a plane…Very excited because it is my second Marathi film which has won a National Award. This was a very, very special effort.” Purple Pebble Pictures also produced Marathi movie Ventilator, which won three National Awards in 2017, including Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
Priyanka’s proud husband Nick Jonas also congratulated the entire team of Paani on twitter. He wrote,”So proud of @priyankachopra and the entire @PurplePebblePic team for their national award for #Paani congrats to everyone involved!”
Paani has been directed by Adinath Kothare and stars Subodh Bhave and Kishor Kadam in the lead roles. The film attempts to shed light on the water crisis that is affecting the country.
