‘I For India’ concert raises 52 crore for front liners fighting corona virus: Becomes world’s biggest live fundraiser on Facebook

“I for India”, a virtual concert held on 3rd May, 2020, has raised an amount of over Rs 52 crore donations for the front-liners who are fighting the covid-19 pandemic. The concert was an initiative of director-producers Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar and saw many Bollywood and intentional celebrities in participation.

Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Hollywood names like Mick Jagger, Will Smith and Sophie Turner participated for the fundraiser concert on Sunday. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vidya Balan, Shabana Azmi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Arjun Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Diljit Dosanjh, Dulquer Salmaan, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, Anushka Sharma, Ayushmann Khurrana, Mindy Kaling, Jack Black were among others who participated in the fundraising event. Musicians Bryan Adams, AR Rahman, Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, Jay Sean, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Jonas Brothers, Amaan Ali, Ayaan Ali, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Badshah, Rekha Bhardwaj were also seen. Filmmaker Farah Khan, Vishal Bhardwaj, and personalities from the field of sports such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Saina Mirza also took part in the event.

“From our hearts to yours. Thank you for watching. Thank you for responding. Thank you for donating. I for India started out as a concert. But it can be a movement. Let’s continue to build a safe India. A healthy India. A strong India. I for India” captioned Karan Johar.

Shah rukh Khan shared a post where he can be seen singing for the concert. He captioned the video with ‘Sab Sahi Ho Jaayega’

All the proceeds from the fundraiser concert will go to the India COVID Response Fund, managed by GiveIndia.
