Tryst with destiny by Jawaharlal Nehru

Remembering The Historic Speech ‘Tryst With Destiny’ This Independence Day

Considered to be one of the greatest speeches of the 20th century, “Tryst with Destiny” was a speech delivered in the parliament by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India, on the eve of India’s Independence, towards midnight on 14 August 1947. And though we have read this speech in history books inumerous times but everytime we hear it, it never fails to bring in goosebumps. The speech aptly states the struggles faced by our ancestors for the freedom of the motherland and reminds us that we should never forget the sacrifices made by them for our better future.

Today as we celebrate 73rd Independence day, it’s important to go back in time and watch this speech which shows us what independence meant in that era.

Also there are two videos in this article, one showing the original footage of that day, and the second one with the English and Hindi subtitle for better understanding.

Once again ‘Happy Independence Day’! May each and everyone of us work towards a better future of our nation…..JAI BHARAT !
