Bridal Veils were once used only in Christian weddings as they go very well with the gowns. The purpose is to hide the face while entering the wedding venue. But now its a big trend with the Hindu, Sikh and other weddings too, where brides wear traditional clothes like Anarkalis, Sarees or lehngas. It has to be light and in a transparent material like net so that it could easily stay on head without disturbing the hairstyle. Therefore nowadays brides go in for a double dupatta style, one heavy embroidered one for the shoulder and the second one, light in weight to cover the head. Here are few styles.

Its lightweight and therefore can be easily taken over your head to cover the face, which is not possible with the lehnga dupatta, as they are generally heavy since they are matched with the embroidery of the lehnga. The bride generally wears it during entry and jaimala takes it off afterwards.
