We all remember the gorgeous Jeenat Aman from the 70’s movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna, where she was seen wearing different chokers. Well the fashion has returned in Bollywood and many celebs can be seen flaunting this style. Well for all those who don’t know, a choker is a close-fitting necklace worn around the neck and can be made of a variety of materials, including velvet, plastic, beads, leather, metal such as silver, gold or platinum, etc. They can be adorned in a variety of ways, including with sequence, studs, or a pendant.
Ribbon choker– This is the most common of all the choker styles. It is nothing but a plain neck piece made up of a plain ribbon or a matching cloth. It can be either thin or thick and comes in various widths.
The embellished twist– A plain choker band can be further highlighted with small metallic and jerkin embellishments. It comes in various designs like a hanging one which Evelyn is wearing, or a jerkin embellishment connecting the two parts of the neck piece which Alia is wearing. You can also wear layers of thin chain to compliment the look.
The metallic twist– The all metallic choker is something to die for as it looks super trendy and comes in all designs from plain to embossed ones. It also goes well with all the Indian as well as western outfits.
The traditional chokers– They are a traditional piece of jewelry and mostly done in polki and kundan with precious and semi precious stones.
Tassel choker– A piece of multi layered string with a tassels at the bottom, it can also be highlighted with some other embellishments too.
Tattoo Choker– Tattoo Choker is the simplest of all and is done on a elasticated wire which expands and comes back into its original size. It is a thin choker which looks like a intricately done tattoo.
