Bappa is already here and if you are tired of thinking what to offer him everyday then do not worry, as we are here! Bappa loves modak, so we will only list four modak ideas which are not only unique, but also flavorful and a little different than the traditional flavors.
Dry fruit modak– This healthy option will be loved by everyone. Take nuts of your choice like almonds, cashews, pistachio, walnuts and roast them on low flame for five minutes. Cool and grind them coarsely. Take this mixture in a bowl and add desiccated coconut and cardamom powder. Now add a few deseeded dates to the grinder and grind coarsely. Add this sticky mix to the nuts powder and mix nicely. Modak mixture is ready and no need to add sugar as dates will add natural sweetness to the modak. Use modak mould to create your sweets.
Chocolate modak– There are several ways to make this one. Like you can mix dark chocolate and milk chocolate to create a double shaded modak or just create one simple flavor with chocolate chips or you can also make dry fruits filled modak. One great idea to make chocolate modak is to use oreo biscuits. Separate the chocolate part and the cream and mix condensed milk with the cream. Add the chocolate part in a bowl and mix it with peanut butter and milk to form a dough. The filling and the modak mix is now ready. Fill the mould with chocolate mix, and add a small ball of the filling at the center. Now seal the bottom with chocolate mix and demould.
Mango modak-You can create a filling using desiccated coconut, jaggery, cardamom powder, and puree of fresh mangoes. Just roast them all in ghee until cooked nicely. For modak, use rice flour and mango puree.
Paan modak– Now you can create it the traditional way by using rice flour or even sooji or semolina. But a quick way to make it is by using desiccated coconut. Add pan leaves to blender jar with water and prepare a puree. In a pan add ghee and dry roast coconut, now add condensed milk and paan puree and form a thick paste. The mixture for paan modak is ready. You can also make these modak with gulkand filling to add a refreshing taste to this flavor.
