Global star Priyanka Chopra never fails to impress with her intellect thinking and speech. Recently, the actor who is Global Citizen ambassador addressed the world leaders at the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland. She spoke about extreme poverty, climate change and inequity.
“I might not be a billionaire that can make the kind of contributions that we’re talking about, but I know that as soon as I had a little bit of a platform when I started my work in the entertainment business almost 20 years ago, I understood the power of influence, I understood the power of keeping the conversation going. I understood the power of not letting it die down, to understand the urgency,” She said.
“We are in such a unique position as human beings. We alone have the power to change the world we live in. 193 counties around the world rallied together in 2015 to pledge their commitment to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, but they are not moving fast enough. As we sit today with the world’s greatest leaders in technology, innovation, philanthropy, and government, it is imperative that we have their help to fill the gap. We are running out of time.”
“I want my kids to grow up in a world where the leaders have listened to Greta Thunberg’s generation, where the climate crisis is contained if not averted, where a woman’s ability to succeed is a basic human right and not based on geography and chance.”
She shared a picture with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who is the board chairperson at Gavi and has vaccinated 86% of the world’s children, and has saved over 13 million lives since 2000.
She also shared a video of her conversation at the event,
A heartfelt note was shared by her after the wrap up of the event….
