Uttaranchal is one of the most beautiful states of India known for its natural beauty of Himalayas. It is generally famous for its religious places and pilgrimage centers, and therefore it is also often termed as Devbhumi (Land of Gods).
But there are many amazingly beautiful hill stations which are a paradise for the tourists who are crazy for seeing snow.
Here are few of them….
Nainital– One of the most commonly known and popular tourist destination of Uttaranchal, it receives snowfall between December and February. Known for its scenic view of Naini lake surrounded by hills all around, it was once a favorite Honeymoon destination for the young couples.
Munsiyari– Also known as Little Kashmir, it is situated in the Pithoragarh district of Uttaranchal. It offers stunning view of snow capped higher Himalayan ranges. It was previously a restricted area as it is situated in between the borders of India, Tibet and Nepal but is now a popular trekking destination for the adventure enthusiasts and high altitude trekkers. It is also the base of Milan, Namik and Ralam glaciers. Best time to visit in winters is November till mid march when whole are is covered with the sheets of snow.
Dhanaulti– It is a hill station 24 km from the popular hill station of Mussoorie, and 31 km from Chamba in Uttaranchal. It is very famous for snowfall (Dec-March) and scenic view of Gangotri-Yamunotri Glaciers. A perfect place where you can spend quality and peaceful time in a quiet environment with our loved ones. Unlike other hill stations it is a quiet and not so crowded place. But if you are looking for an adventure trip then you will get various sports activities like rappelling, sky walking, mountain climbing etc.
Auli– Known as India’s Ski destination, it is situated in Chamoli district in the Himalayan mountains of Uttaranchal. Ever year Ski competitions are held to encourage Skiing in India. It is a paradise for professional skiers. Surrounded by natural beauty, it is surely one of the best destination to visit during winters in India. It also has Asia’s longest and world’s highest cable car Gandola covering a distance of 4 km.
