Yummy Lohri Recipes To Try

It’s Lohri time, and needless to say that this is the perfect time to enjoy sweets to its best.

Here are few famous lohri recipes which will make you to try them in your kitchen too.

Dry Fruit Ladoo– An awesome recipe which melts in mouth and everyone, irrespective of their age groups are going to love this thing. For this, put few figs and raisins in hot water to swell. Drain after 20 minutes, meanwhile take pistachios, almonds, walnuts and cashew and grind them coarsely in a mortar. Keep the mixture aside and now grind the blanched figs, raisins and dates, dates act as a binding agent.

Heat little ghee or coconut oil and saute 1 tbsp seasome seeds, once they start crackling add 2 tbsp desiccated coconut. Stir and add the dry fruits mixture, saute for 2 minutes and then add the figs mixture. Mix for a minute and remove from flame. Let it cool a little bit, apply a little oil on palms, take a small portion of mixture and make lemon size ladoos.

Peanut and Jaggery Chikki– Roast the peanuts well and remove their brown cover or husk completely. Remember the peanuts should be crunchy. In a pan melt jaggery and add few tbsp water to it. Keep stirring the mixture until it gets thick. For this you will have to keep a bowl of cold water near you, drop few drops of the mixture into water, if it becomes firm and brittle or break easily then the mjixture is ready.

Quickly add the peanuts and stir and switch off the flame. Pour the mixture into a pre greased board and cover it with a butter paper or a foil paper, now with the help of a rolling pin even it out. Remove the paper and cut the jaggery chikki in desired shapes. Once it cools down break it and enjoy.

Til Ladoo– Roast seasome seeds on low flame until they crack and change color. Keep aside and roast desiccated coconut until it changes color. Mix with the seasome seeds. Now coarsely grind the roasted peanuts and add to the previous mixture. Mix well, you can also add cardamom powder for taste.

Now add jaggery to the pan and add few tbsp water to this mixture and on a low flame keep on stirring. Once it becomes a little thick add the dry mixture to it. Mixture for Til ladoos is ready.
